T-1 Voice Services (PRI & DSS)

In addition to voice services being provided on individual analog lines, customers have the option of a Voice T-1 where the lines are delivered on a T-1 connection to the carrier. This generally is reserved for customers who require a large amount of lines or require specific functionality out of their PBX or Key System.

The T-1 is delivered to the customer’s premise and terminated into your phone equipment. With Digital Switched Service (DSS), the T-1 is channelized so that each of the 24 ‘channels’ provides a voice path. Primary Rate ISDN (PRI) offers 23 voice channels with the 24th channel being dedicated to the signaling between your equipment and the carrier Central Office. PRI service comes inherent with a variety of calling features like Caller ID and Call Transfer.
